To celebrate Miss Squiggles first birthday, we threw a small party. We didn’t expect her to be very impressed, but she had a blast.
She loved the balloons and pizza,
and was ecstatic to be joined by some of her favorite people.
A cousin with tatoos:
A cousin who was allowed to dish up his own lunch (not sure why he isn’t always allowed this privilege):
And a cousin who ate her lunch diligently and then ate six to eight bowls of ice cream.
Aunts and uncles:
And dearly beloved Nana:
Squiggles had a grand time opening many generous gifts. Among them was a shiny new bicycle from Uncle Bob and Aunt Nancy.
Ivy wanted to share the bike with Squiggles. Squiggles was not in favor.
Nana brought a delicious cake:
So we lit the candle and sang…
And gave the baby a whole slice of cake. She was dainty at first,
but soon caught on to the proper way of eating a smash cake.
And finished it off with enthusiasm.
I tried not to cry during the whole party.
Squiggles had her own surprise for us – she stood by herself for the first time! Whaaaaaa……
After the guests went home, we went to the zoo where a monkey gave the baby a personal strip tease. He showed off his bum for quite some time…
But the baby was not that impressed.
So we came home and played with mommy and daddy’s birthday gift for Squiggles: a push trike (the pretty pink bike will have to wait until Squiggles grows several inches…)
Happy birthday, Sweet Lil’ Squiggles. We can barely remember life before you – you’re our greatest delight and we can’t wait to celebrate a hundred more birthdays with you. At least.
P.S. Thanks for the pictures, Aunt Cami!!!
Wow! I hadn't seen these, but I'm delighted to be able to share Squiggle's birthday with all of our favorite Bostonian s! Fun, fun, fun! I love what Calvin chose for lunch and that Ivy had her lunch before the ice cream. You guys know how to throw a birthday bash!
